I agree. It has a 60 second recharge and you're echoing it. What are you doing in the cooldown - admiring your clothes?

SoI is my staple skill for PvE... so yah, that means its broken. No profession should be going through most of the game with 6 fixed skills with only the support skills being altered. Over 1300 skills in this game and the most acceptable skills for PvE only total to about half that number? You don't even need to list the number of skills that aren't viable for PvE because they are just all of the ones you don't use.

Signet of Illusions is fine, it's just one of the few Mesmer elites which holds a desirable effect in PvE.

That's the problem. I guess I shouldn't have said SoI was broken, but there should be more variation for the Mesmer than just a handful of 'desirable' PvE skills.

I never thought it was possible for someone to even think that anything beats para in PvE. I guess PvE players lack of knowledge of para godmode is worse than i thought.

Apparently using your elite slot to boost a maximum of 3 skills by 1 attribute rank, assuming you're running a super rune on a midline caster, is somehow an effective use of your skillbar.

Why use an elite if you just could pump the points in the attribute itself and have a real elite available?
14 fire magic > 14 illusion + SoI.

Although mesmer can > PvE (more then any dragonslasher/invincigon), it hasn't been done that many times:
6x Me/A cry of pain + 2x Me/Mo

no need to have 100 armor if the enemies are already dead.

I fail to see that using only one skill makes you the best PVE class in the game. Personally I would probably suggest a monk as the best classes since they keep you’re arse alive. Signet is useful and a king of gimmicks. That’s exactly what it is a gimmick skill. Granted it is fun to shoot a couple vanguards on the battle field at full power (since I am too lazy to farm the points). But again it is just a gimmick skill. Save yourselves is probably the most powerful skill out there 100 armor that can be maintained almost 100% of the battle. But again that is another gimmick. If you are suggesting the best class in PVE then you need to include numerous builds and numerous utilities that the class provides. My 2 cents

The main problem here is that people post about how underappreciated mesmers are and how they need to be reworked about three times a week...

Unless you have something new to add, and you more than likely don't if you've read the Mesmers forums for any amount of time, then stop posting stuff like this. Then you won't have to deal with Faer and everyone else.

Oh, and way to serve out your ban...

EDIT: ...at least he deleted his last post.

This wins the internet. We can just shut it down now.

I guess I mis-understood the buff to Clumsiness.I never knew it did AoE damage, and thought it triggered from anyone in the area(We need better skill descriptions >_>)

I have been aware of Signet of Illusions for awhile, but I never really tried your specific build.Guess you pointed out a really good build. Thanks, I shall try it on my PvE mes.

To be fair, this is a significant difference between getting to level 20 and getting your attribute quests, and getting full ranks in a title. The former takes a weekend, and you can reasonably assume that everyone's going to have it past a certain point. Maxing titles is considerably more effort, and you can't really assume every Tom, Richard and Henrietta is going to do it.

Nevertheless, it is true that at higher ranks SoI starts becoming less and less worth it for PvE skills - however, it does give you a chance to get a taste of that power without all that grinding. (And that I can say that just shows how far ANet have left their original design philosophy behind.)

Any suggestions for E-Management since were on the topic about SoI?
With such a fast rate at casting spells, it'd be kind of hard to control your energy, and you would need to resort to some inspiration magic of some sort.
I like using Chanelling because it has a long duration.

Mesmers kick ass because of Cry of pain. Just look at that skill. How is it not hugely overpowered? Ursan blessing is a laughing stock compared to it.

Like many things Mesmer, it depends on the situation. Channeling has the problem that it requires you to be surrounded by bad guys to be useful - a position most Mesmers don't want to be in. On the other hand, if you know in advance that you probably aren't going to be able to avoid such situations... Drain Enchantment is an option if you expect the enemy to be reliably using enchantments, but can leave you hanging if there aren't any.

Unfortunately, the truth of the matter is that Mesmer energy management just isn't that good nowadays - it's all been nerfed to death to stop Monks from using it. Ether Signet is a decent option, but it can't be used until you're already getting close to the red, and even then it's only about an arrow worth. (It can be useful to give you an emergency boost so you can use some other form of e-management, though. It's just that the boost it gives you can often be expended depressingly quickly and then you're waiting most of a minute for your next fix - and it's even more frustrating when you time it wrong and you're over the cutoff when it finishes.)

The most popular option seems to be to splurge into Elementalist for Glyph of Lesser Energy - even at 0 energy storage, it gives a similar or better return than anything the Mesmer has, with less conditions on its use. Another option is to combine Auspicious Incantation with a high-energy spell, but even then you're looking to get an Inspiration around 11-12 to match what the GOLE gives for free.

Many posts in this thread don't add up, you have to admit, a good mesmer is amazing to have in your group, then add the ability with SoI to use any non elite skill in the game at 16 attribute, how can this be bad? OK the OP shouldn't have said that it makes the Mesmer the best for PVE in the game, but there is no way that, if used properly, SoI wouldn't improve the mesmer's options as far as usefulness in PVE is concerned.

The Best PvE Class Unseen?
SoI + PvE skills don't add up to the defensive power of a Paragon...

The Mighty Boosh is a comedy show. The pic is Noel Fielding and I forget the other guy's name.

Fix'd.

Let us not get off topic here, though.
